MINISTER AND KIRK SESSION |
The Abbey Church is managed by a Kirk Session of 64 Elders, male and female, through a range of committees and groups. Fabric, finance, pastoral care, social, education, mission at home and overseas, publications, welcomers and senior members committee. In addition to making decisions on how the Church operates, the Elders visit every member of the Church several times a year, as well as taking part in the Sunday services. They are a hard working, dedicated group of people, and represent a significant resource for the Church by their faith and work. | |
Minister Rev. Bill Buchan has been at the Abbey since early 1987. In
addition to the work of the Parish, he serves on one of the General
Assembly Committees in Edinburgh and is a Non-executive Trustee of
Ayrshire and Arran Primary Care National Health Service Trust.
His wife, Hazel, is a director of Todhill Farm Country Centre, a long established facility in the area, looking after adult males with learning difficulties, teaching them farming, horticultural and countryside tasks in a community setting. The Minister provides chaplaincy services to Blacklands Primary
School and to Kilwinning Academy. |
