St Michael's
Academy
The School
St Michael's Academy is
a six-year denominational secondary school serving a
widely dispersed catchment area of North Ayrshire,
including the towns of Beith, Dalry, Irvine and Kilbirnie
as well as Kilwinning and its surrounding rural areas.
|
|
This breadth of
catchment area means that some two-thirds of the pupils
travel to school by contract bus.
|
The school, which was
originally founded in Irvine in 1921, opened on its
present site in 1965 and was extended and renovated in
1983. It has a capacity of 1043 and occupies an attractive
setting in extensive grounds. |
It is well equipped,
particularly in relation to ICT, and its resources are
currently being enhanced through an internal rolling
action plan targeting budget savings to previously
identified priority areas. |
